Spring on the farm means wood anemones, green and blossoming hedgerows and trees bursting into leaf. Lambs are arriving, and our new young hens have just started to lay their first very small eggs. The cattle will be going out into the fields in the next couple of weeks after spending their winter inside. Vegetable sowing is underway and the potato field has been ploughed and mucked ready for the seed potatoes to go in. The arable field is ploughed and ready for cereals, and a few grassland areas have been ploughed and seeded with a special 'nectar mix' of wild flowers and grasses for species enrichment and habitat enhancement. School visits resume this month, and the children from our linked Soil Association Flagship Schools will see lots of changes since their autumn visits.
