Meynell Langley

Lodge Farm, Meynell Langley is a working organic beef and sheep farm with small scale organic vegetable and egg production.  At Lodge Farm we aim to produce healthy, natural organic food using farming methods which respect, protect and enhance the countryside and wildlife. 

Wildlife habitats on the farm include woodland, hedgerows, permanent pasture, wildflower meadows, a wetland area, ponds and mature trees, and their wellbeing is prioritised in the management of the farm.

The  Soil Association ‘Food for Life’ project links its flagship schools with local farms and promotes an ongoing link between the farm and the school, enabling children and their teachers to experience farming and growing through the seasons and gain a fuller understanding of food production and the issues which surround it.  Lodge Farm is linked with several Derbyshire primary and secondary schools, which bring groups of children to see the farm, help out with simple farming tasks and learn about the farming environment.

Natural England supports environmental stewardship on British farms, and through its Educational Access programme, Lodge Farm is able to offer visits to school groups of up to thirty, and also to recognised groups (eg, Scouts, WI, hobby groups,) of six or more children or adults who wish to learn about farming and the countryside.
